Meganisi, Ionian islands | Greece
Planning a wedding abroad? Greece is full of hidden treasures! It’s common for people that are living away from their home country for many years to develop strong feelings. Peter, the groom is living with Charlotte, the bride, in Chicago. They have planned their wedding in Greece because Peter is originally from a Greek island, located in the Ionian sea called Meganisi. Meganisi in the Greek Isles is a sparsely populated island with limited tourist development but what it lacks in infrastructure it makes up for with its lush greenery and blue-green waters. Making it the idyllic spot for Charlotte & Peter’s destination wedding. And all the more so because it’s a place they’ve visited every summer together. The groom’s maternal grandparents were born on the island so much of his childhood was spent there. With some beaches only accessible via foot or boat, the couple hired a private boat to take their guests around the islands for the day before their wedding which made the entire celebration feel like a vacation and was a nice way to spend quality time with their guests – many of who had travelled a long distance to join them. The couple wanted to honor the Greek tradition for their wedding day and they had the most typical and genuine Mediterranean styled wedding decoration. The show-stopping wedding cake made of various layers of local cheeses was one of my favorites. This Mediterranean styled wedding in Meganisi was proudly featured on Magnolia Rouge!

~ KIND WORDS ~
Choosing Elias as our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. I seriously don’t think I could have stayed so calm on the day without him! He was a real pleasure to be around, put us at ease, and his photos are the best images I’ve ever seen of myself and my husband (and our guests / venue / you name it…). He was very accommodating to my request that we keep the ‘posed shots’ to a minimum, capturing stunning ‘candid’ moments, and he had a super calm manner when directing us, which removed any awkwardness. He was also extremely professional in teaming with our videographers. I’d been told that sometimes videographers and photographers can step on each others’ toes, but they worked together seamlessly throughout. Elias – we are so glad we found you! Thank you again!
