Looking to get married in the best wedding venue in Greece?
Here is a blog post with a little bit of my wisdom!
When you start planning your destination wedding in Greece, one of the first and most important questions you’ll find yourselves asking is … where? Greece is full of beautiful locations offering a great variety. In this article, I hope you will find some useful information on selecting the best wedding venue in Greece. As a destination wedding photographer, I have the privilege of visiting a lot of places and witnessing a lot of things. My goal is to help you select the best venue for your dream wedding!
The “holy trinity” in weddings, is booking the venue, the planner and the wedding photographer. Not in that order necessarily.
There are couples that have booked their wedding venue just by looking at pictures and reading descriptions. So being absolutely honest with you here, there are venues that are just more advertised than others but don’t necessarily offer the same quality of service and overall experience to their customers. That can happen for lots of reasons that would be irrelevant to delve more into. The orientation and the actual location of the venue are very critical as well. There are venues that the light is good only in very specific time of the year or there are windy most of the summer. How could you possibly know that if you don’t ask someone you trust? It’s like when you try to select a good restaurant in a city you’ve visited for the first time. Getting honest reviews and feedback is the safest way. So my advice to you is to find and book first the people that you feel are more trustworthy to offer you honest feedback for the rest of the vendors you are investing at for your wedding day.
If you would like to learn more about how to book the best wedding venue for your destination wedding, please feel free to contact me, so we can have a quick chat and offer you some usefull insights.
Before booking the wedding venue it’s a good idea to ask your wedding photographer and your wedding planner of their honest opinions. As I mentioned earlier, being in many places we have the experience to share.
Best places to get married in Athens (Athenian Riviera)
Athens is the capital of Greece with lots of sightseeing and things to do in the big city. Some of my favorite luxury wedding venues are the Four Seasons Astir Palace, Island Art & Taste, Grand Resort Lagonissi and Pyrgos Melissourgou. Most of the aforementioned venues have a great view of the sea. If you want your wedding reception to be close to the water, have a look at Ktima 48 and Ble Azzure as well. If you don’t mind being away from the sea and want to enjoy the surroundings of the venue and its architecture, Pyrgos Melisourgou, Hatzi Mansion, the Nasioutzik Museum, Pyrgos Petreza and Casa e Campo are good choices.
The newly renovated Four Seasons hotel in Athens is a true gem. It has lots of photographic opportunities, an excellent orientation to enjoy the sunset and ample space for your reception. Added bonus, it offers some great choices to rent a standalone cabana to get ready at. This option is very helpful to save time and have less stress on your wedding day.
The Island Art & Taste offers three separate places, the Gallery, the Residence and the Private House, so chances are that you can find one of them available on the date you have selected, though please mind that this might be the most sought after wedding venue in Athens.

The Grand Resort Lagonissi is a piece of heaven in the Athenian Riviera. Dreaming of a beach party on your own private beach? Check. Getting ready in one of the hotel’s cabanas is definitely a must-do experience. Having your wedding reception right by the sea? Yes to that too!
Pyrgos Petreza and Casa e Campo would be two of the finest choices if you want to host a wedding that at a place that resembles Tuscany. Stone built venues and beautiful natural surroundings make up for a perfect isolated wedding venue.
Ktima 48 and Ble Azzure offer a nice alternative to Island for a wedding by the ocean and Ktima Laas has one of the best views of Athens by night.
Best wedding venues in Santorini
I love Santorini so much! It’s one of the most popular destinations for weddings for all the good reasons! The view and the vibes of this Greek island are really one of a kind! There are so many nice wedding venues in Santorini, that I really hope I’m not forgetting any. Some of my favorites are the Rocabella Hotel, Cavo Tagoo, Fanari Villas, Venetsanos Winery, Cavo Ventus and Canaves, Andronis Suites, Perivolas in Oia.
The Rocabella Hotel and Cavo Ventus situated perfectly between Oia and Imerovigli, Santorini’s two most picturesque villages and so offers great flexibility to have amazing photos in the jaw-dropping landscape!

Canaves Oia like its name implies has an amazing balcony and can host small weddings like no other! From experience, I would say about 10-15 guests would fit perfectly and the view is second to none!
Best wedding venues in Mykonos
Mykonos is the island of the winds so one thing you should definitely be aware of is to have your wedding in protected surroundings. Private villas are the most popular choice for weddings on the island. They offer complete exclusivity, no curfew and it’s the best choice for a wedding up to 100 guests. Depending on the size of the villa you will rent of course.
Some of the most amazing events have taken place in Alemagou beach bar, the Royal Myconian hotel, 180 Sunset Bar, Principote, Skorpios and Santa Marina Hotel. A wedding on the beach in Mykonos is definitely an option!
The Santa Marina Hotel has been recently renovated and the gardens of the hotel will make you feel that you are in a gorgeous oasis in the middle of the most cosmopolitan Greek island.
Wedding Inspiration: A luxury and elegant wedding in Santa Marina Hotel
The Alemagou Beach Bar has one of the best lights at the sunset and you must definitely take advantage of it!
The 180 Sunset Bar has one of the most amazing panoramic views of Mykonos old town, that you just can’t get enough of!
Best wedding venues in the rest of Greece
There are so many Greek islands so beautiful and unique to host your wedding in Greece, that really the options are endless. Some of my favorites that I have documented weddings are Lazarou Beach restaurant in Sifnos, Poseidonion hotel and Kaiki beach bar in Spetses, Danilia Village in Corfu, Argentikon Luxury Suites in Chios, Agreco farm and Kapsaliana Village hotel in Crete, Kinsterna hotel in Monemvasia and Costa Navarino.
Word of caution. Being absolutely honest with you, there are certain locations that they are not ideal for weddings, even though sometimes they are preferred by couples. Couples that live abroad have to make a decision made on pictures on the website. Before booking a venue, ask your wedding planner and photographer to give you their honest feedback. You are investing a lot of your money and time at a destination wedding, why not make sure it’s going to turn out as you imagined it?
