Lake Como has some of the most impressive and sought after wedding venues in Italy. The lake is surrounded by famous villas, a lot of which are private but the ones that are available to host a destination wedding are remarkable.

Let’s see some of the best wedding venues in Lake Como in a random order

Villa Balbiano

Villa Balbiano is one of the most famous venues in Lake Como, as it hosts spectacular weddings! It recently made itself even more well-known by showing in the movie House of Gucci. Italian finesse in all its glory!

Villa del Balbianello

Villa del Balbianello is situated on its own private peninsula and it has one of the most scenic gardens you can find in Lake Como. This venue is ideal for smaller weddings.

Villa del Balbianello is well known for the massive tree in the lower garden. The story behind it, is that the owner of the villa wanted the tree removed so he could enjoy the view of the lake from his window. His gardener was reluctant to cut down such a beautiful tree, so he asked the owner to trim it instead. So the tree is still there, being a symbol of this famous Italian villa. Villa del Balbianello has been seen in a Star Wars movie. As you can imagine, villas in Lake Como are famous!

Villa d’Este

Villa d’Este is one of the most historic wedding venues in Lake Como. Well known as one of the most luxurious choices to have your dream wedding.

Villa Pizzo

Villa Pizzo is one of the most versatile wedding venues in Lake Como. It’s spread across a huge area of land, providing lots of different options for the setup. The most popular option is to have the wedding ceremony at the Darsena. This way you will have an amazing view towards the lake.

Villa Erba

Villa Erba is one of the most luxurious Villas in Lake Como. It’s known for its glorious interior spaces as well as it’s emblematic surroundings.

Light and seasonality tips

Lake Como is surrounded by mountains, meaning that the sun actually sets sooner that the time you will find in various websites. (These websites dictate the time that the sun will set at sea level) It’s imperative that you advise your wedding photographer or/and wedding planner of the best times for your wedding day. You don’t want to miss these last rays of sun that give this golden effect. Also, Lake Como, being a lake means that especially during the hotter months of the year, July and August, there is a lot of water evaporated creating a haze effect that might affect your wedding photos. Despite Lake Como, being in the northern part of Italy, it is blessed with good weather around most of the year. So even in mid to late October is a great season to get married in Lake Como.

Finally, Lake Como has some of the most luxurious Villa of the whole Italy, meaning that you can make the most of the interior spaces as well. Take as an example the following pictures from wedding receptions and setups.
