Why having your photographer at your rehearsal dinner is a good idea.

Having a destination wedding is a great idea by itself. You and your guests will be visiting a new place, something out of your ordinary that will provide you with a unique experience. Most of the destination weddings I had the pleasure to photograph had guests flying from all over the world to honor the couple’s special day.

It is usual and certainly a noble gesture to have a rehearsal or welcome dinner before your special day. This way you get to meet and greet your guests and enjoy some relaxed time together. At every rehearsal dinner, I had the chance to photograph, I can let you know for sure that people were relaxed, enjoying their cocktails and getting themselves warmed up before the big party!

After all, that’s what weddings should be about and most of all, destination weddings.

Getting yourself familiarized with your wedding photographer is a crucial factor in having beautiful and relaxed photos on your special day. That’s where an engagement session comes in. You can read more about it, here. The easiest thing to do, is to have an engagement session right before your rehearsal dinner! After all, you are going to be all dressed up and with beautiful makeup and hairstyling. So what better excuse to snap a few photos with your fiancé?

Getting your parents, your bridal party (bridesmaids and groomsmen) and the rest of your friends familiarized with the photographer is also very important. That’s why having your photographer at the rehearsal dinner is smart. Plus, you will get to have more photos of you and your better half in a different set of outfits.

Added bonus: At a lot of rehearsal dinners, there are speeches so having these emotional images added to your gallery is definitely something you don’t want to leave out.

Tip: Make sure you plan a cocktail hour before dinner, so you and your guests can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, chat and mingle. This will allow me as your photographer to capture more candid images.

I understand that the wedding budget will rise if you add this and that, but trust me that the photos of your wedding will be the only investment you’ll make that its value will rise over time.

Please feel free to contact me if you want to learn more about this idea or some consultation, always a pleasure to help!
