Villa Il Palagio, Tuscany | Italy

Tuscany, Italy. One of the most beautiful places in the world. Tuscany holds a very special place in my heart, as it was one of the first destination weddings I had the pleasure to photograph. Every time I visit Tuscany, I am so excited as this part of Italy is magical in every aspect! When Chiara from ‘Weddings in Tuscany’ contacted me about Ally & Brian’s wedding in Villa Il Palagio, she mentioned it was Sting’s villa. Then I had a Facetime call to meet the couple and all the stars aligned. A wonderful couple, madly in love and very kind, an Italian wedding villa with so much history and a wedding planner that I loved her styling and is a sweetheart! I think we will agree that getting married in Italy is a dream and getting to do that amongst the vineyards of Tuscany, is the cherry on top. Especially at a wedding villa in Tuscany, so famous as its owner, Sting. On the wedding day at the villa, we couldn’t have asked for better light, as the sky had a few clouds, enough to soften the light and have a beautiful glow. The ceremony was also held at the perfect time, so we could have pictures of the couple with the sunset behind them. Having great light is key to great pictures and that’s why it’s essential to advise your wedding photographer about timings of the day. As a destination photographer, I can’t wait to visit Italy again for more amazing weddings in Tuscany like this!

Reasons why to love destination weddings in Italy

We spend a fantastic afternoon with this gorgeous couple exploring some hidden gems of Tuscany like the villages you’ll see below. Having an engagement session at your destination wedding is a must-do! You can read more about why, here.

Ally & Brian made the most out of their destination wedding in Tuscany, as they welcomed their guests with a rehearsal dinner, enjoying homemade pizza and wine from Sting’s vineyards! Having your photographer at the pre-wedding event is a great opportunity to have more pictures of your guests and they get to familiarize themselves with our presence.

~ KIND WORDS ~

Elias made our wedding weekend beyond amazing and the most memorable experience of our lives. We are from the US and had a destination wedding in Tuscany, Italy in September 2019. Working with Elias was an absolute dream. We had three shooting sessions with him in the days leading up to our wedding: an engagement shoot, welcome dinner, and our wedding day. Elias showed up early to each event and had already thoroughly scoped each site for the best shooting locations before we arrived. Elias and his second shooter, George, were friendly, genuine, and relaxed. They made us feel comfortable and beautiful and were truly excited about their work. Neither of us feel comfortable in front of the camera. Elias taught us poses and angles that made us feel at ease and allowed him to capture natural, beautiful photos. Throughout the wedding, Elias was by our sides and felt more like a friend than he did our photographer. He helped calmed me down when I was stressed, was present when we wanted him to be, and worked quietly in the background when we were with our family and friends. He truly made our wedding day a happier experience than it already was. All of our friends and family raved about how genuine and kind Elias was. Beyond being easy to work with, Elias is an incredibly talented photographer. Our photos look like they are out of a magazine and in fact will soon be published in two wedding publications. Elias has an eye for capturing natural light. He pays attention to the objects in a shot, sometimes moving things out of the way or propping things (or even me) up to get a better frame. His film and black and white shots are perfection. He captured photos I never thought were imaginable, and I couldn’t be happier with the end result (which he delivered in a few short weeks). I would work with Elias again in a heartbeat and am constantly trying to convince newly engaged couples to hire him. If you’re getting married in Europe, please do not hesitate to book Elias. It is the best investment you will make on your wedding day and you will not regret it.
